International Seminar on Economic Theory and Policy 2025
The National Autonomous University of Mexico, through the Institute of Economic Research (IIEc) and in collaboration with the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE) and the Young Scholar Initiative (YSI), calls for submissions to the International Seminar on Economic Theory and Policy, on the topic: Trade and migration in a globalized world
Guidelines
- Participation is open to academics and students specializing in the field with focus on the following topics:
- Section 1. Free trade vs. protectionism
- Section 2. Migration in the socio-economic context
- Section 3. United States trade policy and its effects on the world
- Section 4. Migration, remittances, and economic dependence
- Section 5. Influence of migration on the U.S. economy
- Section 6. Business alternatives for growth and development
- Upload the abstract of your paper to https://economicas.unam.mx/sitepe from June 9th, 2025, to August 2nd, 2025, at 23:59 hours as an electronic PDF file with Times New Roman 12-point font, 1.5 line spacing, and following the American Psychological Association (APA) style for citations and references. The abstract should be 250 words maximum.
- Confirmation of acceptance will be sent by email and published on the same website. Selected papers will be presented at the seminar.
- The registration form available on the same webpage should be completed. This registration must contain a biographical sketch of each participant and contact information including name, institution, telephone number, and email address. In the case of collective works, the name of the representative of the group of authors must be indicated. This document must be submitted to the jury for evaluation.
- The jury will be composed of the coordinators of the seminar, and the jury's decision will be final.
- The Young Scholars Initiative will evaluate and award travel scholarships to young scholars whose work is selected by the jury. Applicants should indicate their desire to be considered for this scholarship in their abstract submission.
- Once your paper has been selected, you have until October 4th, 2025, at 23:59 hours to submit your full paper. This file must include a title, abstract, introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions, and bibliography. The work should have a maximum length of 25 pages, with Times New Roman 12-point font, 1.5 line spacing, and follow the American Psychological Association (APA) style for citations and references. The paper should be submitted as electronic Word and PDF files by uploading them to the website https://economicas.unam.mx/sitepe
- Before August 15th, 2025, those selected will be notified via email of their participation in the seminar.
- Selected papers will be presented during the seminar. The Institute reserves the right to publish them in the book Trade and Migration in a Globalized World, which will be published by UNAM once the requirements established by university regulations for publishing have been met.
- The jury will resolve unforeseen aspects of this call.

Venue and format
The event will be held in person on Wednesday, November 5th, and Thursday, November 6th, 2025, at the Institute of Economic Research of UNAM in Mexico City.
